Designing anything based on the brilliant work of Osamu Tezuka is an illustrator’s dream, and I was glad for the opportunity to design the covers for Kimba the White Lion. The characters were designed to appeal to children and the Kimba series is known for its warmth, power, and thoughtfulness, so the covers had to reflect that. I have seen Kimba in a lot of images with his friends; but I wanted to go deeper and place him in a role where he is growing into the powerful leader of the jungle that he, like his father before him, would become. To achieve the full effect, I added breathtaking scenery to give impact that helps tell the story of Kimba.
